  1. The American Council on Education held its annual conference in San Francisco last week. It was an exciting few days of discussion about how college and university leaders can help their students succeed.

  11. On Sunday, ACUE leaders, subject matter experts, and university partners discussed the important role that faculty development must play in improving student outcomes.
  12. The panelists were: Cal State, LA President William Covino, former CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein, Clemson University’s Linda Nilson, and ACUE Chief Academic Officer Penny MacCormack. ACE Chief Academic Innovation Officer Deborah Seymour moderated.

  18. But we were up early on Monday morning for another big day! ACE President Molly Corbett Broad discussed the ACE-ACUE collaboration to colleagues during the Opening Plenary.
  19. CUNY’s Matthew Goldstein followed with his own remarks about the urgent need for colleges and universities to put effective instruction at the center of their student success initiatives.
  20. Then ACUE and ACE premiered a short video of students and teachers talking about the power of effective instruction.

  22. ACE’s Student of the Year award went to a former marine and cancer survivor who’s now attending Eastern Illinois University in pursuit of a law degree.

  28. On Tuesday, U.S. Under Secretery of Education Ted Mitchell capped things off with a discussion about collaboration in higher education.
